Anonymous Joins Nationwide Phone Protest over the Legalization of Marijuana

Anonymous joins phone protest over marijuana legal use

Anonymous takes up cause, even if no hacking is involved

In a move very uncharacteristic to its previous activities, Anonymous is pledging support for a phone protest campaign that will take place on November 6 in the US, one that hopes to convince members of the US government to finally legalize marijuana use nationwide.

The hacking group has previously stated its support for marijuana consumption numerous times in the past, issuing multiple videos on YouTube for various campaigns, some of them dating back to 2012.

Now, the hactivists, through AnonHQ, one of its most popular news portals, are urging users to take 5 minutes out of their lives on Friday, November 6, and call their congressman and demand him to support the legalization of marijuana consumption in the US.

A nationwide phone protest is scheduled on that day, and Anonymous will be joining other initiatives and organizations like the Free State Project, Live Free or Die Alliance, Libertarian Party, Marijuana World News, and NORML.

The protest comes as a recent Gallup poll shows that over 51% of Americans support the legal use of marijuana.

Additionally, Anonymous' press division is also pointing out the fact that only 4 out of the US' 50 states have laws that regulate recreational marijuana consumption, despite the fact that Colorado, one of the states where cannabis is legal, has 66% more revenue coming from marijuana taxes, compared to alcohol.

AnonHQ is providing a detailed document with the contact information for every office of every member of the US Congress.

Live Free or Die Alliance is not actually supporting this event. We are a strictly nonpartisan organization providing unbiased information on BOTH sides of such issues.
