Marijuana reduces need for traditional medicines

Therapeutic marijuana relieves physical pain and is good for the country’s finances. According to the University of Georgia, US states that have legalised the drug have made annual savings in the region of $165 million.

The reason is that patients who take medical cannabis to treat symptoms such as pain, depression, sleep disorders, anxiety, are less likely to use traditional medicines, which are more expensive and less effective.

Moreover, according to the researchers, if all 50 American states were to legalise marijuana for medical purposes, they would be about half a billion dollars richer each year.
