Have friends and family warned you about CBD addiction? It’s time to separate the myths from the facts. Read on to learn about CBD oil.

By next year, experts predict the CBD market will hit $20 billion. And by 2022, the hemp-CBD oil market could hit $22 billion.

But if you take CBD oil, you might have been warned by family and friends about the “downsides” of it. You may have even been warned about CBD addiction and that people can become dependent on it.

In this article, we’ll separate fact from fiction on a variety of topics related to CBD. We’ll get the bottom of some of the biggest myths regarding CBD.

1. CBD Addiction: Is It Real?
You may have heard about people on television or reality stars going to rehab for marijuana addiction. And because CBD oil is from the same cannabis plant as marijuana, some people might then, in turn, warn you about CBD oil. They may tell you that you can become addicted to it and that you should use it sparingly or in moderation.

But is this true? Is CBD oil addictive?

Well, the answer depends on the type of CBD oil you use. If you use CBD oil without THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, then the oil is completely non-addictive. This is because there are no psychoactive effects to taking CBD oil without THC.

Some CBD oil does contain THC, which some people say can cause addiction. It is possible, though it is rare. But individuals will become addicted to the “high” THC offers them, not the CBD oil itself.

2. You Can’t Drive If You Take CBD Oil
Again, this depends on the type of CBD oil you’re taking. If you’re taking CBD oil that doesn’t have THC in it, you’ll find and can drive and take as much CBD oil as you want. If you do take THC with CBD in it, you’ll want to be a little more cautious.

3. CBD Oil Is a Cure-All
People are always looking for something to combat everything from cancer to the common cold, and these folks are always a little more susceptible to individuals who say that they’ve found the magic elixir.

While some studies state that there are medically positive effects in taking CBD oil, it doesn’t cure every type of illness. For instance, taking CBD oil isn’t going to cure cancer or an autoimmune disease. Instead, you’ll need to seek guidance from a doctor.

There is some evidence that CBD oil can help with seizures, but the research is in its early stages. If you, or your child, suffers from seizures, it is best to speak to your doctor about whether the treatment is appropriate.

That being said, there is much anecdotal evidence that CBD oil can reduce inflammation and aid those who suffer from chronic pain.

4. CBD Oil Makes You Sleepy
Marijuana does, indeed, make some people sleepy if it contains THC. This is because it can act as a sedative.

However, CBD oil without THC does not have sedative properties, and therefore won’t make you tired. While it can help you relax and remain or become calm, it won’t make you fall asleep.

5. People Only Use CBD Oil with THC in It for Fun
There is a common myth that CBD with THC is for fun, while CBD without THC is for people who are trying to improve their health. This is patently false.

Many people with chronic pain or anxiety find that CBD with THC can actually help their symptoms.

Some people find that their symptoms are not helped enough by CBD oil without THC, and therefore, they use oil with THC.

While some people do use CBD oil with THC for fun, it is not the only purpose.

6. CBD Is the Same as Medical Marijuana
This isn’t actually the case. In countries where medical marijuana is regulated by the government, the marijuana used to help with diseases and chronic pain must be a certain standard. These are known as “medical grade” marijuana plants.

If you purchase CBD oil at your pharmacy or online, it doesn’t necessarily meet the requirements for medical marijuana. Most likely, in fact, it doesn’t.

However, many people still find CBD oil that is not necessarily medical grade helpful.

7. THC Is Better Than CBD
Some people believe THC is better than CBD because it is stronger. But this isn’t the case. While some people may need a smaller dosage of THC to find relief from their symptoms, it doesn’t necessarily mean that either is “better.”

You may find that you prefer one over the other for your pain or ailment, and that’s absolutely fine.

But, this doesn’t mean that either is “better” than the other. In fact, that is completely subjective.
