Let people decide on recreational marijuana

Woodrow Brackens

Nevada now has made recreational marijuana legal, the fifth state to do so. How, you ask? The state had it on a ballot. Their House and Senate decided to have the regulations, guidelines and modified laws, just in case it passed.

Now, imagine, if you will, if this decision was left up to the people of West “By God” instead of some overweight stump-jumping hillbilly. And just imagine if our House and Senate used common sense and also had the foresight to have all the regulations, guidelines and modified laws just in case our Jim “Bubba” Justice would put it on a ballot and let the people decide.

All five states that have made marijuana legal for recreational use are in the West. Would it not be grand if West “By God” became the first eastern state to make it legal? Look at all the “perks,” more tourist dollars, more jobs, less crowed courts and jails and just look how much tax revenue we as a state would have. Smooth roads, safe bridges, gold-plated guardrails, an end to personal income tax and, don’t forget, jobs.

Now if only that overweight stump-jumping hillbilly in the Capitol building would let the people decide what Is good for West “By God” Virginia. Instead of a Democrat that can’t get along with Republicans, maybe, just maybe, this state would not have the money problems it does today.
