5 Celebrity Dads Who Love Cannabis

Cannabis is now legal for medical use in 28 states and the District of Columbia, and has been legalized for recreational use in 5 states as well. With this decriminalization of the drug that the federal government still considers to be dangerous, here is a look at five top celebrities with kids, that promote its use, and use it themselves.

Top celebs are smoking marijuana

More and more celebrities are coming clean about their use of the drug, and the number is growing almost daily. All across the nation, American celebrities are admitting to their passion for pot, and showing that it can be used responsibly by people without heavy addiction. So who are the top five celebrities that are smoking pot?

5 Celebrity dads who use marijuana

Montel Williams

This father of four is known to have multiple sclerosis, and cannabis has been proven to be a good medication for the control of the illness. Montel has never been quiet about his use of medical marijuana and has said he has found some relief from the illness by using it. For around 17 years he has had a daily dose of medical marijuana to help with the illness.

As a huge advocate of the use of cannabis in medications, Montel has talked on several national TV shows about the benefits of its use and has even given testimony in the Los Angeles City Council about his own experiences with medical marijuana, and his illness. And for all those who knock him for his use, he has the right answers. Montel has done extensive research into the benefits and history of cannabis as a medicine and can slay anyone who takes him on regarding his use of pot.

Moreover, as an activist for legalization of the drug, he has branched out into farming and founded LenitivLabs, a major producer of high-quality cannabis for medical use, and a cannabis research facility.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

This former Terminator and governor of California is a well-known toker and was seen on a video smoking weed after a heavy workout in his younger days as a body builder. Arnold has always extolled the virtues of cannabis use, and in 2007 he made a very controversial statement about its status as a drug; "It's not a drug, it's a leaf," he said in the 2007 interview.

In later years, he made it clear that he was in favor of the use of weed. In an interview with host, Jay Leno, he said, "No one cares if you smoke a joint or not." While this was not in line with the view of Californian voters at the time, the then-governor of the state clearly had no problems with the use of marijuana. California was the first state where cannabis was legalized for medical use, and as of 2016, it is legal to carry up to an ounce of weed for personal, recreational use. Moreover, on January 1, 2018, it will be legal to sell it in the state through licensed dispensaries for non-medical pot.

George Clooney

Former star of ER, and new dad, George Clooney has always been a lover of the finer things in life.

From his villa in Lake Como to his personal tequila company, Casamigos, Clooney always wants the best of everything. So it is no surprise that when it comes to weed, he chooses the best. While filming Ocean's 12 in the Netherlands, he was often spotted in one of Amsterdam's premier cannabis cafes buying weed. And he has returned to the same café year after year since. However, with newborn twins, it is yet to be seen whether he will have the time to make more trips to Amsterdam for his annual supply.

Richard Branson

The brash and loud entrepreneur of all things Virgin, Sir Richard Branson, does not hide his affection for pot. It is widely known that he rolled his first joint while still in his early twenties, and was taught by none other than the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards. Since then he has announced himself as a big advocate of medical marijuana, and has often renounced the war on drugs around the world.

Branson has two kids of his own, and is an advocate of pot for children. So much so that in 2016 he announced to a room full of fellow executives, "If they're going to have a joint, do it with them.

Don't let them sneak off and do it on their own." The peer of the realm has also been known to smoke it with his son, Sam, and advises him to not do it in excess, do not mix it with tobacco, and stay away from "skunk".

Willie Nelson

As the proud father of seven children, Country music legend Nelson is just as proud of his pot smoking. Known in his heyday for his love of weed, which he calls "ganja" after the Afro-Caribbean name for marijuana, he was arrested several times for possession. Legends abound about the prolific use of the drug on the Nelson tour bus, and he even had Jimmy Fallon, and his entire camera crew, as one of his "ganja guests".

Never one to be shy about his pot penchant, Nelson has done a lot to promote the normalization of the plant, and remove the stigma that was always attached to smokers. Without a doubt, he is the "granddaddy" of pot and has his own company, Willie's Reserve, which sells a line of cannabis accessories and edibles. AS he is famed for saying, "My stash is your stash".

And, although this is a "top five" of cannabis dads, no list could really be complete without a mention for the world's most famous pot-smoking father, Snoop Dogg. Heavily pro-cannabis, Snoop was always portrayed as the weed addict in the hit films, Starsky and Hutch, the Scary movie series, and his new film, "Grow House", is about two pot smokers who try to cash in on the medical marijuana business.
