The use of cannabis in China dates back to 2700 B.C. The Emperor Shen-Nung named cannabis "ma", and it was unique because it was both feminine and masculine, yin and yang. Since it was the female plant that produced the medicine, it was used to treat issues related to women.

Later in the second century A.D., the famous doctor Hua T'o discovered its uses as anesthesia. China grew the plants for more than 4,000 years until the Chinese government banned it in 1934.

Today China is patenting herbal treatments made from cannabis and China is the largest manufacturer of cannabis accessories. But It is still illegal to possess, distribute or use cannabis in China. It is incarceration and execution for traffickers.

Cannabis and the year of the Fire Monkey

February 8th marks the beginning of the year of the Fire Monkey in the Chinese Calendar - a year of impulsive energy, change and new paths. Fire is the element of change, renewal, and the possibility of being somewhere completely different from where you are now.

This year, be careful to have a solid footing before making that leap; like Tarzan, only let go of the last vine when you have hold of the next one.

As we leave the year of the Wood Sheep - a year of creativity and laying down the path towards your goals - we had a year to take deep exhale from the year of the Wood Horse which was a year of change and of grabbing the brass ring.

Now in the Fire Monkey year we have the proper foundation to grab the next rung in the ladder, as long as you keep your reach without losing your footing, you will succeed.

In a nutshell, don't mess up what you worked so hard for the last two years by going out on an impulsive limb.
